As a beauty blogger I can get lazy with my lipstick choices, especially when it comes to Mac. I own all of the blogger favourites; Shy Girl, Angel, Creme Cup (and more). Because of this I tend to neglect some of my less infamous lippies. So in order that they don't feel too left out I am going to be doing a few posts on my less used lipsticks in hope that they will inspire me to get them out and use them more often.
The first shade is Lustering.
The clue's in the title, it's a lustre finish which is one of my more favourite Mac finishes. It's less drying than some of the others and has just a hint of sparkle.
Lustering is a glossy, hot pink. It's slightly cool toned and the blue in it is great to make your teeth pop. The best way I can describe it is that's it's like Nars Orgasm but for your lips. With Spring on the way, this has replaced Revlon Cherries in the Snow which I wore all winter.
It's super wearable as the lustre finishes are slightly more sheer than other Mac lipsticks. It can be worn lightly, like a gloss or built up to achieve a more full on look. It's a bit like the soft and gentle sister of Impassioned (an Amplified finish).
Typically I get about 2 hours worth of wear out of this before I'm desperate to reapply, but I'm fussy about my lipstick and drink a lot of water and coffee throughout the day which makes is wear off more easily.
Mac lipsticks retail at £13.50. Contrary to what most people think I'm of the opinion that this is a fairly reasonable price for a Mac lipstick. What you have to remember is that you're paying more ££s for more choice. Yes a 17 lipstick (which I LOVE fyi) may only set you back £5 but the colour choices and finishes are more limited. I tend to buy Mac lipsticks when I have something really specific in mind. I picked this up after searching the high street for a glossy, sheer, cool toned rosy pink. 10 mins in Mac and I found this. Perfect. No fuss, no hassle.
Keep an eye out for more of my lesser known Mac lipsticks!
